Nearly all the trim. Either you have been taking the right side sill trim on and off or there is a small discrepancy in the order of your photos.

Do you prefer the side with the sill trim on or the one with it off?

Can't wait to get a close up look at this car so that you can advise me on the finer details.

Nowt gets past you does it Mike - no discrepancy on photo - we took the trim off incase we needed to get to the torsion bar covers for suspension.

I've got a few fine-tuning things to go on the car, I'd say it was about 95% complete - but that will be sorted over the next couple of weeks. Good news is that she runs and drives beautifully - getting that confidence back that it's all working....touch wood....

Done 100 miles or so in the last couple of days, nothing significant to report other than a big fat smile on my face.

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone - you've all been so supportive through this, I'll miss the updates when this thread comes to an end - but that will be in a couple of weeks yet so plenty more mishaps to report, no doubt....

I know what you mean - I'm thinking they will be perfect in about 20 years. Not sure about leaving them out in the garden, I think best bet is to drive it. A LOT.

That's the plan. Was worried I'd feel overawed by it all when it's back on the road. But I'm not. I'm more careful I think, but when the car goes on cam, you just can't help driving it the way it was intended. And that's what will happen going forward.

In a funny way I'm more confident now as I know there's very little that time and money can't sort. So I'm just going to get out there and use it. In fact, have just got back from a 20 mile blast on my favourite road around here, targa roof off, smelling the grass, feeling the sun, listening to the flat 6 howl.

So. Very, very nearly there now. The last couple of days the car has been at Darren's. We knew that we would do the final gapping on the car and make sure everything is perfect. We decided to do this as it's been a bitsa project. Some here, some there. So to be fair to everyone, it was decided that the final gapping would be done at Darren's.

And Darren called me on Monday to tell me that Barry was coming over to help Rich with this final stage. Really great news.
And here's what we came up with....a full on day from the boys, but this is the attention to detail that they are so legendary for.

And one of the trickiest areas we've had is these little babies...I think we can safely say they're sorted...









And the reason the door was off, was because I needed an aerial fitted.

So all that's left to do is collect the car from Swindon, have a run over to Centre Gravity again to check out the wheel wobble at 70, put some stickers, badges and some rather funky NOS fog-light covers on it, pack and go to the tunnel....here's hoping we make it there and there's no DRAT to overcome....

But I'm going to leave this update with a fantastic photo that Darren took. These two have spent over 600 hours between them on the car. For me, this captures that spirit entirely.....and rightly proud of their work they should be....

Little to do with me but no doubt there's been a lot time and love poured into this car, however I think the biggest credit has to go to Richard himself…..

…..many think for the owner it's just about paying the bills….far from that in this case.

The time, effort, blood, sweat and tears Richard has put into this project is phenomenal….the hours of research, seeking out rare parts, attention to detail, accepting nothing less than things being 'right' and his calm persistence are to be commended….not to mention a sizeable financial commitment!

It's his driving force, vision and dedication that have taken this car to being amongst the very best Targa's worldwide, the car is simply sensational and the only Targa I've ever really wanted to own.

Hats off to you Mr Murphy, you've done an incredible job
