Holy crap Jason - you really do have too much time on your hands. Where the f did you dig that up from? :-)

I'd upload the icebreaker picture for you but photobucket has decided to be sh t again tonight and I can't. But will. Basically it is a picture of an old bloke, naked, chopping a hole in the ice.....that's what the Finns call an icebreaker.

And I can tell you they had no mics on the audience. They were pissing themselves. Having watched the vid again it seems that it might not have been in a good way though....

Is there an emoticon for tumbleweed....??

Wow - what a couple of days.....I have dead flies on my windscreen :-)

Firstly I went down to Canford to get the car - This is what I found when I got there.....

Engine has it's new snorkel-less air intake

Image

First time I've seen these - Alan managed to get some NOS perforated vinyl for the bolsters....hen's teeth? Rocking horse sh t? Nah, rarer...

The work on these is really very good, and they are so comfy :-)

Image

So we have a few more jobs to do in the car as you can see. Pockets are a bit of a mare - seems Porsche won't even talk about delivery til sometime in July...oops - oh well. And we still need to fit the rear seats and panels as well as the headlining and seals on the targa top. So it's going back to Alan's on Saturday for another few days, then off to Darren's for a final gap and polish. At least that's what he said. I'm thinking there may be a bit of trade-plate usage while I'm away :-)

Then I got to actually drive my car for the first time in two and a half years - it was, as they say, a bit emotional. Still once it was warmed up, screaming round to 7k revs is the antidote to that. Still, not like the suspension hadn't been set up or anything...oh...wait...

So fun done, I put it on a trailer - an open one. I did think about a covered one, but ffs, it's a car, it's going to be outside. And it didn't look like it was going to rain. That much....

So 30 mins into the drive it starts really, really pi55ing down. Then hail. HAIL FFS......I haven't seen hail for frigging years and it hails the first time I take my new car out of the garage.....Still it's not like the hail you see on those "When weather kills" type American shows where it's as big as golf balls and such.

Then got to the M40 and it really started raining, couldn't see behind me. Car was getting a proper drenching. And then I relaxed. It's OK. It can be cleaned. It's got good paint and underseal and waxoyl and seam-sealing and all sorts. But the journey was a nightmare.

So after being on the road for approximately 13 hours in the day, I finally got to Centre Gravity - fair play to Chris, he waited for me as I got there after 9pm. Took the car off the trailer, put it inside, and sent me off to the B&B where I fell asleep in about 30 seconds flat....

Big fat brekker in the morning. Sun was shining. Went to CG. We took the car out for another drive (I found out today I really don't like other people driving my car with me in it - Chris is a great driver, but still....)

Generally, was felt to be ok, too low at front and right on the bump-stops, a bit of driftiness and stuff. So we spent the rest of the day sorting it all.

When the car came in, we attached it to the computer (mind those Weideman wheels...)

And the computer said my wheels looked like this....

Image

Ahahaha - that's my suspension set-up....anyone else want me to do theirs? Although to be fair to me, we only had to re-index 3 out of the four torsion-bars.....

Anyway, it's now got 1.1 degree rake, the ride heights are exact on each side (and about 35mm down from factory), it is corner balanced perfectly, it's not on the stops, has about 20 mins of toe-in front and rear and about half a degree of neg camber (slightly out of factory, but because it's lower, that's alright) - main thing is that it's balanced across the axle. And pretty good castor. Apparently.

We also centred the steering and bolt-checked and torqued up everything. Also gave me the chance to show some gratuitous under-car shots...

Chris is an absolute gent and the car feels amazing now. Completely different to whatever I have had before. I need to run it for some miles and get used to it, then we'll see how it is, but it really does feel lovely. And I think the stance is looking good too, but let's wait and live with it for a bit and see if it needs anything else.

Now that's what I call a wake up post!

Hope that missing sill trim doesn't mess up your corner weighting!

Car looks absolutely stunning Richard......can't wait to get to work and show Rich. Wax protection is yellowing nicely :)

Richard, wow

Bet you’re like a kid in a sweet shop. Car looks fantastic and those seats are the business.

Remember I'm home on Tuesday so fill her up and get up the road...

Kind Regards

It looks absolutely fabulous.
It must be a wonderful feeling to have got it back and be able to actually drive it.
Be careful with it!
