is saturday a good day to start rebuild topic- carrera 3.2 ?

Post by madness »

I think it is...
As all of you can see im fairly new in here.
Didnt post anything that would be in some use for DDK community.so i decided that is time to give something back.it may be helpful for someone (im in doubt thou).but anyway here it is....
I have 1982 SC as a future daily driver with no engine and box. so for some time i was looking for them or thinking to put an early 2.2t in it....after a wise people told me not to do that, i decided to by something...i know few people around and they know more so the search wasnt long and i got a 3.2 carrera engine and box out of 84 car with 85k miles on it (at least i was told).engine was complete with wiring and ecu just no dme relay.gearbox with external oil cooler and no mount.the owner told me that he hear it running .leak down on the engine out was aroud 25% on all 6.what is not bad...anyway i took it ...
some night i tear it down and discovered broken stud...and there it starts....

3.2 REBUILD THREAD

i guess no one is interested how you tear down an engine so i skip that part except that to remove heat exchangers was real PITA... it took me a day to do them alone and try not to brake any thing that could cost me half of my life....so slowly and patiently with help of these

time to get to the cam towers and heads.decided to take the whole lot as single unit and take it apart on the bench...so left side first ...made some spacers to hold the cylinders in place and there you are:

You need to re-set your pics (don't ask me how) so we can see them. :)
