Hello,
I've managed to get hold of a bonnet and was planning to fit it to my Carrera as part of a backdate. I'd planned to leave the old slam panel in place and secure it with the rubber tie-down thingies. However...I've just been told that a long bonnet won't sit properly on the IB bonnet seals and will let water in. Is this true ? Has anyone tried it ?
Other option is to flog the bonnet and buy a fibreglass one with a short-hood latch plate (I think Paul Stephens is only supplier in UK ?) Same question - has anyone tried one of these on a backdate ?
Thanks

Re: Long Bonnet on IB Car
I guess it'll seal around the sides and back edge but not at the front. Fennlane graft a metal long bonnet front lip onto an IB bonnet, might be worth looking into though suspect fibre glass to be much cheaper.
Re: Long Bonnet on IB Car
Fenn Lane did a fantastic job on my IB bonnet, converting it to a long pre-impact bumper job.
Geoff is a great metalworker and painter, and doing it that way meant we kept the IB slam panel.
From memory it wasn't much different in price to a GRP one, and fitted much better. (We trial fitted a GRP bonnet before the decision was made to modify the steel original.
