Welcome to the world of silver 911T ownership :) Great news to hear your wife is in remission. These life changing events really define what it's all about.

As for the car...

There looks to be the need for the usual full B-Post, sills, kidney bowls, jacking points on both sides. But fingers crossed this is the limit of it, the front pan looks OK.

Hopefully the glass is only still in to lower the dust getting inside during the bare metalling and they are going to take the windows out before painting it...? It always surprises me that these are left in for paint by some bodyshops when it takes less time to remove them than mask them up properly :) It also stops the glass getting ruined by weld splatter... I only have to clean my rear screen to remind me how I learnt this lesson :)

Good luck with the project. Hopefully it won't be long before it's shiny again and on the right side of the pond :)

Hi Gary, thanks for the comments. Yes the glass is in at present just to stop the car getting full of dust. It is usually covered up as well. The rust isn't in the kidney bowls or jacking points but there is some smaller bits in other areas. I hope to post some more pics this week.

This is looking great and good to see they are keeping you well updated. Will you be able to see the shell inmperson before it goes to paint? just a question which is not borne of any superior knowledge, merely what i have seen more often in the resto threads- I notice the car is not on a jig (just axle stands) and still has engine in place. Does this matter when structural members are being redone eg the side sills? Will they get it on a jig at some stage to ensure its straight?

Thanks for the comments. I don't think it needs to be on a jig unless the body needs to be straightened and there is no evidence of any damage or repairs from an accident. The guys working on it are confident it is very straight. Im pretty sure the outer rockers aren't structural especially one at a time. Others may know better.

Here is the right rocker being repaired:

Next after some advice here on DDK we decided to remove the AC unit and weld up the holes. It looks like it was fitted by the dealer so no great loss and less weight.

After the welding was completed Troy and his team set about removing the underseal

Undercoat removal in wheel well areas showed some surface rust here and there. It was decided to sandblast rust areas and will need to do some blasting in front trunk area around batteries.

Making good progress there Jos.

I'm still undecided as to whether to remove my A/C. It's listed on the CoA so I'm not sure if that gives it any sway towards best staying for originality or not.

Keep the pics coming! :)

Thanks Loz, I think if it was on my COA then I would keep it as I like the originality of these cars. Its difficult to understand why you would want AC especially on days like this in December!
