Whatever happened to..........

Post by 210bhp »

Remember a 1952 356 coupe which Philip Taysom auctioned for charity some years ago? It was in aid of Macmillan.

I'm sure I remember the lucky winning bidder bringing the car to Prestwick in Ayrshire for restoration which is quite near me. I have never heard a thing about the car or it's restoration since.

Anyone know what happen to it?

Regards
Mike

I remember Phil auctioning off a 911 for Macmilllan Mike. There was a bit of an evening organised at the General Tarlton for the handing over of both the car to the winner and then the cheque to the nurses.

Must have been four or five years ago.

Could the mists of time have swirled a 911 into a 356 ?

Mike.

I know what you are thinking. That old bugga has lost the plot again.

Is a 911 a lot different to a 356 then? If you park yours side by side in a sort of semi-dusk light, apart from the colour, can you honestly tell them apart?

Seriously, I remember the 911 rally car auction. Interestingly I can find that thread...

Even more interestingly Philip starts the thread by saying (something like),

"I auctioned off a 356 some years ago for charity so I am going to do the same with my 911........."

I hope someone can remember the 356, I'm not dreaming am I?

Regards
Mike

I remember it well.

A VW guy bought it and was pictured receiving it with a big cheque etc

When I have a mo I'll try and find the post if it still exists

That's the 911 thread Andy. Phil donated and auctioned a 356 (preA?) a few years before that one

No Andy, that's the 911 auction. The 356 auction is mentioned in the opening paragraphs which was a year or two before.

I really wish I'd found the money for this. No chance now, even for a car in this state.

That's the car, shame the thread doesn't exist, it should. The forum shouldn't self prune so it must have been deleted at some point.
