Ahhh welcome to the world of Impact Bumpers. They do crop up on Ebay often but they still command decent second hand money, although 4-5 years ago things were noticeably cheaper.

So how do get to the bolts? I seem to remember mine have always clipped on.

Not got to that issue yet. Hopefully Nick will have been there before.
I do recall the original was clipped on with some ferociously strong fasteners that only gave up their hold by breaking.

Looks like the clips could also be used by pushing on to the round post section although the nuts are easily accessed if the silencer isn't on.

Always believed the "poor cousin" relationship with the pre 74 Carrera was unfair since we weighed one many years ago to settle a bet with a pre-74 Carrera owner LOL

It will be worth it Paul, I'm nearing the completion of a '79 3.0SC Targa for a customer and it has had all the external trim replaced with new items and looks fantastic for it.

New light units, reflector, over riders, rubbing strips, fog lights, No plate lights, grill, badge, etc



Really gives you an idea of what one would have looked like in the show room in the seventies, with all the Cortinas and Morris Marinas passing by outside!

Yes, I bought new headlamps too.

I have the original H4 front headlights but they look like they have served enough tours of duty.
The silvering in the reflectors has rusted and tarnished.
It's flaking off in places and not worth the effort and expense of restoring.

The rims are scratched and chipped and that's because they have simply been painted black over the original chrome.
No doubt as part of a previous owners attempts to 'modernise' the look of his car.

The glass of the lenses had the appearance of being sandblasted to a textured matt finish, a legacy of many years protecting the front wings from stone chips.
