That's a very interesting point. I know that this was a problem in the early 73MY RS production and explains why silver was never a colour in the 73RS line up.
It must have been a problem solved by the time the martini RSR's ran at the 73 Targa Florio so why not on the 74MY RS production cars?
I know I have seen at least one Italian silver 74RS with a duck but of course this could have been added later.
So, you are saying all silver cars were still with a plain lid even in 74? it strikes me as being odd, otherwise why not do what was done the year before and just not offer metallic colours with a duck.
I'm off to read some period books. Please comment further.
