Yet more rust. This time the inner arches and evidence of earlier MoT 'patch' welding.
Slap a bit of metal over the rust and get a fresh ticket.
Hey, why not, it's only an old 911. You can understand the ecconomics of that era. :(

Inner front this time. Another couple of big patches. To help keep the bumpers on.
I think I'm going to be needing a new inner wing. Or four. :( :( :(

More places where the ground below is visible through the sheet metal. :(

The floor was rotten the other side too.
Some more welding & patches over the floor and plenty of holes around the pedals and in the foot wells. :(

Time to admit defeat Paul - it's not worth saving ... especially since it's of limited appeal (RHD) !

Sell off the engine & other mechanicals to someone wanting to build an RS replica ...

You know you love it really - seeing your project go from this neglected starting point to the the pristine finished car it will eventually become.

You're right Paul.......I do it for love! :love4:

BTW - I did actually think you've been teasing and was on the fitting up stage - I'm told (as you'd expect from a Mr Ferryman build) that it looks quite spectacular now! 8)

And please don't go changing that colour!

Holy Moses!!
I am now petrified to peel away the layers on my impending resto! (78SC)
Was thinking of acid dipping, but might look at media blasting now, as if I ended up with a sieve, like you say, it would be really demoralising (and wallet busting)! But I daresay, as we will no doubt see in future episodes you will have ended up with a lovely clean shell!!
Cheers

There was a little bit of good news....
Just a bit.
The bulkhead was clean as a whistle. No rust here.
No rust in the corners.

And the seat pans? Like new.
And the rear shelf? Really good.

It's all rather odd, I'd have expected a rotten rear shelf but it looked pretty good.
The window seals must have held up OK.
