I have Compomotive split rims (Dage Sport supplied) on my 73T hot rod with 205 x 50 x 15 tyres.
The rears were tight so many years ago I took a block of wood and a scissor jack to the rear arches to 'ease' the fit...by 10mm or so plus rolled the lip.(rolled the fronts too)

Wings are real Porsche 73 steel.

Yep, it was more a bit of encouragement to find a way to go with Minilites, if that's what you really want. Me, I prefer Fuchs!

A tad premature but we made some colour samples this week.

I'd been pondering on whether to go with black or white Porsche side script or maybe none at all....

....as I'm after a subtle look I thought I'd try a slightly different shade of orange for the scripts and was kindly sent a few vinyl samples......think I'll go with the darker 'intense orange' ....



If it looks pants I'll change it to black...or white...or maybe none at all....

My plan of gradually buying all the various trick items I need to complete the Mongrel has ground to a halt as cashflow has taken a serious battering recently ....

...however I did commission this rather nice Repa Harness before the money ran out...



Dave hates them as they're not technically correct although he was very accommodating allowing me to have twin tails...he thinks it'll look messy, although I have since seen similar...



....I'll be doing things slightly differently and the plan is for Barry to install twin period looking fittings on the rear shelf like this original...



..with twin eyelets and hook attachments directly in line with the head restraints I think it will look quite cool. We'll see!

Talking of Barry, progress on the bodywork has been slow as he's taken a bit of a sabatical recently....strange to think that after all the great cars that have gone through this workshop the Mongrel will be the last!.....

Don't worry Darren, it was going to come out sooner or later anyway.

I'll post on a new thread, suffice to say a tricky decision has been made, and I must thank Darren for his advice and support (not to mention his patience) during this period. Everything's fine though, just needed some space.

I can't believe it's been nearly 3 months since my last update!…..not that the project has been idle during that time.

The arrival of the Mongrel with Barry coincided with his move to new premises - once settled in the project has kept him pretty occupied…….to say that I haven't been quite as lucky with this shell as with the last would be something of an understatement! ….

Due to some fairly severe trauma to the NSF of the car, the plan was always to replace one if not both inner front wings….however before any panels were replaced Barry still wanted the shell to bolt squarely to the jig…not straightforward in this case! ….









….and this was a car that looked pretty straight and true! ……I guess you never rebuild a car without getting it on a jig!

Absolutely love threads like this and Ferrymans,John M's etc, but it doesn't half scare the s**t out me, wondering what lurks below an apparently fairly solid shell.
