Nicely manouvered.
Is it staying on the Early911 stand, Mike?
They had some of the best cars last year, imo.
This year, too, if yours is anything to go by!

Re: My new project.........
Just to update the thread with pictures from Essen, some of Ferry Mans great work and a few others people have sent me, thanks
for those! Starts with underground in the unloading bay then as it drives into the hall and onto the stand.
Not my choice as to how it was displayed but seemed to be well received on the whole, and a bonus it was on the same stand as
the McQueen car, which was really splitting opinions...... That's it in the background to the right.
It always takes a few minutes for people to realise the Martini artworks all in paint, then they can't help stroking it. The head of
Porsche Classic from Stuttgart very kindly came onto the stand to check it over on Friday and was laying on the floor underneath
it at one stage with his itorch, he's a really nice guy and seemed very impressed and wanted to keep in touch about it.
All in all a great success and lots of cars at Essen to give me inspiration for the next project, anyone got a rough 2.7 Carrera they
don't want.... Funnily enough emailed a random guy in Germany yesterday about a car he was advertising for sale, put my name on
it and he came back saying is that Mike Moore the UK Porsche restorer, I had to explain he must be confusing me with someone else

Re: My new project.........
You look pleased Mike and rightly so.
Must say though you've aged since you started the project - about 6 years
So forgive me if I missed it elsewhere - where is it's new home?

That was the good news at the unveiling, the new home is still the old home, it's not going anywhere.Bootsy wrote:So forgive me if I missed it elsewhere - where is it's new home?
It will be staying with Neil and the new owner is keen for the both of us to carry on looking after it.
cheers, Mike.

I've been out of the loop mike and hadn't realised you'd managed to sell it - congratulations - the new owner is a lucky person.

I love the photos Mike, sorry I didn't make it to the "live" event which looks to be pure theatre The car is automotive art and such an important part of Porsche history! I think both you and Neil can consider yourselves artists of the top order!

Sorry for the hijack...

and came 3rd driven by Leo Kinnunen and Claude Haldi with the race number 9. Most will recognise it though like this, as the
factory in their wisdom decided to do it up like the winning number 8 car which is in private hands.
Fortunately over the past few years as people including myself have lobbied the factory to return it to it's original look, it's slowly
morphed back to an approximation of what it looked like in the race. They took off the race number 8 a couple of years ago, it
was left blank, and then last year it appeared with it's orange and blue roof for the first time. Jon's picture shows it now with it's
original race number 9 on which we haven't seen before.
While it's great that it's going to returned to look as it originally was, it's sad that in pretending it was the winning car it lost so
many important parts, the rear arches, (here we go again) were fantastic, just riveted on and the only ones like it, and for the 73
Targa Florio it wore a mocked up Mary Stuart tail, literally taped on winglets extending out from the ducktail, it would be great if
they could re-create them if it does go to Sicily this year.
The other thing it's lost if you look closely is the 72 oil filler flap in the rear wing, it's disappointing to me that they haven't put that
back in, pretty easy to do and so important from an historical point of view.
But as I said the good news is 'our' car has finally been allowed in and should be going to Sicily in October, and if the rumours are
right and the winning number 8 and the Museum number 9 cars are there how fantastic will that be! Now just the small matter of
getting the organisers to give us the entry number 107........
cheers, Mike.

Re: My new project.........
Thanks for posting info and photo's Mike. Love the riveted on arches.
Hoping to get to Sicily in October. Seeing all three RSR's would be the icing on the cake.
Hope you get 107 accepted.

Hi Mike,
I've found myself drifting back to this thread quite a lot recently....always incredible, the more I learn the more incredible it becomes!.....awesome!
Quick query, did you ever measure the power loss on the dyno with your air filter housing fitted?
Cheers,
