To be fair Canford Classics were doing their best to squeeze me in and no promises have been broken, they're just so busy with customer work.
This weekend was always going to be tight but I have every faith in Mr Drayson and expect to be collecting the E very soon!

Cheers Steve, I often think I'm a little 'too' focused!.....the guilt factor of having so much on the go is killing me!left4dead wrote:Chin up, Darren; keep focused on the bigger picture...

Biggest concern is running out of fun funds and having to sell the 993 to fund the project but we'll see.
Not sure whos car that is, Michael Eberhardt at Vintage Seats (really helpful guy) sent the photo to me, it belongs to one of his customers.
Next dilema - the initial plan was to keep the shell pretty much stock so it could be turned back into a T in the future if so desired however I now want to fit custom harness brackets on the rear shelf and I'm looking at all those welded trim fixings and thinking do I really need all those with a stripped out interior......I reckon I'll get rid of the lot?

Have you driven a car with no heat? Think carefully before you go down that rout for a road car.Custom Race Headers (no heat)

Re: Mongrel Street Racer
I drove my road/hillclimb 73T with no heater for about 12 years (headers knackered).
It is perishing at times, and hard to de-mist with just a (very cold) air blower.
Car now has heat and it is so much better.
I certainly would never delete the tubes in the sills.
Oh, and despite whatever you wear, there is nothing sexy about a freezing 911.

Re: Mongrel Street Racer
So, this week I've learnt all about offset!
Change to spec! - It transpires that my desired look of an ST appearance on a narrow body just can't be done!
My preference was due to pure vanity and wanting to be different - I liked the idea of having rear Minilites purely for looks however I wanted a nod towards period correctness and a performance/enhancement gain by having an RS type wheel/tyre 6's and 7's set up - the fact it was never done kinda added to the appeal......hey why not, it sounds good on paper!
The reason it was never done in period was that a) there was never any performance need to, and b) it couldn't be done, Minilite have never produced a 7" wheel with an offset capable of fitting under skinny arches!
The choice is now to go with 6.5x15 (ET35) rear Minilites with maybe a different tyre set up (wheels would have to sourced used as they're no longer available), go with regular rear 7" Fuchs with a different tyre size, source some deep 7's which would probably mean the new Group4 release, or...........take a lump hammer to those rear arches!
Mmmmm....decisions, decisions!
Probably lots more within my intended spec that also doesn't work....but then I never claimed to be no expert!
Cheers,

Mongrel Street Racer
Compomotive do a similar wheel with more offset but naturally you lose the dish effect. ML1571 is the model. Not sure if they can handle the 5x130 pdc.
