Break down - home start cover

Post by yoda »

Hi

I recently took out an insurance policy with Hagerty that cane with free break down cover via AXA. Policy is great, premium very reasonable and break down cover was free so no complaints.

When I went through the break down cover I found it does not include home start (i.e. faults within 1 mile of the home address). I called up and they will not add home start to this policy even for and additional premium. I called a couple of the usual break down companies and they won't provide cover for a car of this age (1973).

Any suggestions where I can get break down cover - I just need home start but expect I'll need to take recovery + home start as a minimum.

Thanks

Feroz

Do it on a personal basis with home start cover rather than covering the car alone and home start will then apply to any vehicle that you are in.

The breakdown cover offered by your insurers is just on a vehicle basis rather than you, it's FOC/part of the policy so will offer a very basic cover.

We're with the RAC, I've used them on more than one occasion and they've been great. We get a pretty decent discount via my wife being in the NUT.

ADAC.

Honestly, it's such a good deal you may at first think its too good to be true.

79 Euros (from memory) annual cover for all your cars, including Europe assistance and recovery.

If you need assistance in UK they use the AA, so basically at home you get AA cover for fraction of AA price.

Brendan will be along soon with more detail on ADAC I expect...

Adac all the way, € 79.00 and all the cover of above...also cover me on the Motorbikes too.
The deal is fantastic but I signed up at the the Nurburgring as its the only recovery allowed on the north ring.
You might have trouble signing up in this country as I've recommended to friends adn I think they had problems.......great when you're onboard though as it just auto renews each year.

Thanks all.

Went to the ADAC site and they require a German address and bank account to sign up. I'll try and call them tomorrow or worst case I'lljoin up while I am out there.

They have English speaking call centre people, and addresses outside Germany not a problem.
