911 Gearbox oil

Post by domo1977 »

Gonna nip out at lunch and get some oil for my gearbox, but can't remember which grade should be used in a 901 box. Can anybody remember?
Just wanna get some normal stuff for now to run through it for a few hundred miles then change to swepco. I've heard that this is the best thing to do 'cos the old oil has probably been there since 1967!
Also an idea how much oil I need for a complete gearbox fill would be helpful.

cheers

Hi Dom, know its after lunchtime but:

EP 90 to specification MIL-L-2105 or 2105B 2.5 Litres.

Take it you've resolved the starter issues, looking at the other posts?

cheers Barry

Thats a relief as that is what the guy at the shop recommended, ended up guessing how much I needed and now have 6 litres! never mind I can always flush it through a couple times!!

Think the starter issue should be gone now, all wiring is checked and ok and have another known starter (cheers Luke), just need to fit it now!
