I think these guy will mean that you polish the scratches out by hand. In the past I have polished mine with one of those big polishing cylinders in a drill - it covers the whole of the watchface in one go. This was after I'd watched a watchmaker use something similar in London. It produced a good finish. I daresay you're meant to use this fancy paste stuff as well and not steel polishing soap. That might be why I've had to replace my glass after it got so thin........
