I had to get my kicks on other 'jazz' sites... now have an arm like Popeye and need to visit Tesco to replenish the Andrex.

Was it a DNS attack breaking the server? If it's of help I run the website for Nokia, so I can call on some techies to do us / you a favour if you'd like me to.

No, nothing to do with the DNS.

It was a corrupted database - the largest of the tables the forum runs which holds all of the 'post' data.

It crashed (seemed to be because of too many connections at one time)

Usually I can repair a crashed table using tools on the server but in this particular case it couldn't be repaired.

Therefore I had to retrieve the last backup of the table (which was about 20 hours before the crash) from the server and restore it, check everything etc.

Just took longer than I would have liked
