Here is one of the front, the orange colour looks to be almost bleached out.

You find a great looking 2.2S and everything looks right on it, even the bonnet badge. Are you going to then ask the seller to pull the badge off the bonnet, so if you can see if it has dimples on the back ??
 Probably not!

Yup, I still call fake - the dimples look too big, the exposed metal around the horse has gone black (a sign of a different alloy to original) and when was the last time you saw orange enamel turn almost white due to age or sun bleaching?!

Just a heads-up, but there are several of what look to be original orange bar badges for sale on the Pelican Parts forum at the moment.

In particular, the middle badge is for sale for just $65 and looks ripe for restoration!

Thanks for pointer Simon. However, I have this one with a bit of 'patina' (scratches). I'll maybe spill the beans later depending what you think

My badge has finally made it to me after its journey around the world - starting in the USA, where I bought it from, then onto Australia, where it was restored and now on to me ready to be mounted on my car... 8)

I also have an orange emblem which was restored by Heywood Enamels on my 72s 911 - it looks very good and is not to shiny. Whole appearance is just like the NOS orange bar emblem I have seen in 2007.

Cheers,

Reviving an old thread, but Porsche Classic have started reproducing the early 1963-73 hood badges.

I've not seen one in person yet, nor do I know how much they are (probably not cheap!), but there's a nice little video showing production here... http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesan ... roduction/
