Hi horologists, I'm looking for advice as to whether there is a reasonably foolproof DIY way of removing scratches from a watch face (the glass bit). My speedie had a little issue with the stone wall of a spiral staircase of a french chateau, after several too many Leffe's.
I keep having thoughts of my dremmel and the polishing compound it came with.
Probably the answer is: Nooooooooooooooo! But, thought I'd check..

When you say Speedy what model / mark and year. What sort of glass?
Removing scratches from glass is a pain and not easy. If its an earlier mk1 and has an acrylic then it's a simple enough process depending upon the depth of the scratches
The scratches you show look to me more like acrylic scratches. It wouild do no harm to try some Solvol Autosol on that area to see what happens. If its glass nothing will happen if it plastic with effort you could be lucky.

Try to keep it off the bezel

Does look acrylic - autosol / t cut etc will be fine if it is.
It they're deep you could carefully use a fine grade wet and dry paper and then polish just as you would on the final coat of paint on a car.
Does anyone have a recommendation for where to source a good quality 18mm leather watch strap for my Heuer Carrera?
I'm thinking that I'd like to go for a dark brown, stitched and slightly padded leather strap this time rather than black. I'll swap the original buckle over to the new strap.
I've seen watchworx.co.uk have an "Aerosport Mk2" strap that looks ok, but I've no experience of their quality. Price isn't a major concern, quality comes first.
