2.7 911 Carerra RS book
Konradsheim's 'Carrera RS' is considered the definitive book. Second-hand only and dig deep for an English version. There were rumours of a re-print last year but unsure whether this happened.

This is the book you need. Not cheap, and commanding a hefty premium now over it's published price (limited edition). I have no affiliation with the above sale and I don't know if it is still available. They do come up on eBay from time to time. There is really no alternative if you are a serious buyer but you still have to be very careful. The book is 'the bible' for the RS but it still has the odd mistake.
Rumour has it that the author is bringing out a new updated version but this has been the case for a year or two now and nothing yet.
Regards
Mike

Re: 2.7 911 Carerra RS book
Mark, the Carrera RS book by Gruber and Konradsheim is widely thought of as the "definitive" book but it's out of print although there were rumours of an update?
If you can find one they can be pricey at around £1000 +/- a few hundred but it's a good book.
Here's an old thread that I'm linking just cos it has good images http://www.early911sregistry.org/forums ... sheim-Book
On a wider point, if you're seriously looking for a good RS and want to learn as much as you can, there's nothing better than seeing cars, talking to owners and asking advice.... especially on DDK where there are a number of real experts (and I'm excluding myself from that category)
The best place this year to see lots of RS's in one place will be Classics at the Castle where there's likely to be a BIG 40th anniversary display.

Re: 2.7 911 Carerra RS book
As an owner of both the car and the book I would say that the book is a handy resource, but not definitive. I don't think that there is a definitive book, but this is probably about the best book available. The cars are 40 years old now and even the small handful of people who are still about now from when the cars were built are not going to know every variance of every car that has happened subsequently. These are simply a very good car for their age, built in limited numbers (hence the strong prices and ditto the book), upon which a lot of myth has been built. I'll probably get flamed, but just the view of an owner. Hope this helps a bit.

Re: 2.7 911 Carerra RS book
I knew the Gruber and Konradsheim book has been commanding impressive prices.
I had no idea though that the Janos Wimpfen bible on world sportscar and endurance racing 1953-98 is also commanding similar prices:
http://www.early911sregistry.org/forums ... -Two-Seats
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listin ... ition=used
I bought my copy 10 years ago, direct from the author ("I wish I'd ordered two etc , etc")...
Seriously though: Would anyone be interested in swapping my Wimpfen for a copy of the Gruber and Konradsheim?
