Saturday - early morning driving down South to collect my 997 GT3
Sunday - out on my Bike for 70 miles and back early afternoon to watch the Tour de France on TV ( and then probably a drive in my new motor!)

Off to Newnham Park to compete in a 24hr endurance mountain bike race with my son and a few mates, although looking at the weather, a canoe and lifejacket may be more useful.

Don`t despair everyone..... Classic Silverstone approacheth and by then the days will be scorching and the evenings sultry.
I love the smell of hydrocarbons... of a warm July evening.
Mike.

E30 heaven/hell for me...
The kindly man from the AA has now traillered me home twice in two weeks after the Touring stubbornly refused to get me home, even though I believe it is contractually obliged to.
Having now fitted the following new parts: brown and blue sensors, dizzy, coil, HT leads, plugs, DME, FPR, fuel filter, CPS and cabling, the bugger still only runs for 5mins before wheezing to a deathly silence.
Fuel pump checks out fine as does the ECU and associated wirey bits.
So tomorrow it's off with the intake gubbins to fit a new throttle body, TPS and pipework, the only bits I haven't yanked out and mincingly hurled across the yard yet...
Joy.

Classic Silverstone tickets on my dining room table. slightly the poor-mans substitute for CLM?
Sunday will be a run in the 911 hot-rod to finish bedding in the fresh brakes so it might even stop in a fashion, spanners crossed.
If dry for 3 seconds might even wax it. As if...
Then spend £1600 on a rebuild kit of parts for the racer's engine....and that is for starters.
Spa in September!

Speaking of Silverstone and the weather the organisers have asked that the public not show up for quali today as they want to save the car parks for tomorrow's race.

Yup, I saw the news.
Did you see the footage of the race car create a bow wave in a deep puddle?

Took NickT's advice and wore shorts the whole weekend. On Saturday visited the local English Heritage stately home and had ice cream in the rain. Today, watched the Olympic torch pass by (not in the rain, but journey to and from was). Then went swimming (outside, in the rain) and had more ice cream (bit of sun).
So not a completely saddo weekend then.
Hope everyone else got their tasks done/cars fixed, etc

Got the 3.2 5 cylinder 911 engine down to Bob's place.
Waxed the road 911 hotrod in the DRY!
Took it and the wife to Arley Severn Valley train station, scones and cream and a bit of a walk.
Got home in one piece, what a car, cleaned the Lola's dry sump out and found some metal inside it.
This means a new oil cooler..
Daughter came round in her MX5, such a great little car. WHY didn't MG/Triumph think of this car??????
I smell of engine oil.

Wine on Sunday is now on my list.......
Did Murray really not walk round with his trophy to acknowledge the fans and his performance.......Federer is a true champion my Swiss flag is flying
Ran out of 5mm st/st washers fitting the extinguisher but did decide no brake shims and found 0.25 mm extra clearance to stop the drag
