Classic Marathon 2012

Post by MikeB »

The Classic Marathon is based in Ireland this year, starting near Belfast before heading in an anti-clockwise loop round Ireland, finishing in Kilkenny, taking in many of the classic Irish rally grounds (Fermanagh, Galway, Ring Of Kerry, West Cork etc) on the way.

There were 5 911s in the starting list, we got to the first special test on the outskirts of Belfast, to see them off.

The runners are

8 Charles Colton(GB) / Guy Woodcock(GB) 1965 - Porsche 911
9 Howard Warren(GB) / Matt Warren(GB) 1965 - Porsche 911
10 Michael Haberl(A) / Sebastian Haberl(A) 1965 - Porsche 911
16 Andrew Mallagh(GB) / Sarah Mallagh(GB) 1966 - Porsche 911
35 Paul Hernaman(GB) / Chris Towers(GB) 1972 - Porsche 911

It would be good to see more photos- especially ring of Kerry. I worked on 3290LJ in 1989/90, is it still 2.7 or back to 2.4s?

Alan

Only found out on Saturday night, so not much notice.

Chris

LJ was still listed as a 2.7. I don't know if there will be any photographers following the event. However Peter Boyd might have something on his Peespeed site later in the week when it gets closer to Dublin, plus the Classic Marathon webpage usually has Progress Reports with some pics. Try Googling it
