5th gear is actually in the box, just blanked off.
Trouble is the space to push the lever to '5th' gate position is VERY restricted due to the roll cage brace position.
Mike B can fit a taller 4th at the end of the season for me.

I just want the car to run as well as it did last weekend for the year!

A set of 14" wide 15's and matching slicks will run to about £1800 and penalise the whole gearbox set-up, where changing 4th will be about £500 and leave 1/2/3rd as they are which is very good. Just 4th needs to be 115 mph and not 99 mph at 6400 rpm.

Having 5th blanked off gives a reliable passage from 2nd to 3rd as there is no 5th to go across into.
The time lost changing gear on a hillclimb will kill the result too!

I think at Barbon I will be out of gears on the long run up the straight...

A one -day race at Barbon Manor in the Lake District today sees the car simply wonderful.
It just worked.
So very close to matching my Impreza's times by 0.2 sec and the car worked just great.
Engine = 6/6cylinders
Gearbox = 4x4 changes on request
Times = the best ever for me today when all my class mates had issues.

Good to see Mike Bainbridge there and to plan the next steps to the gearbox that worked perfectly.

I'm in love again with my Lola! :) :) :)

Thanks for the pics Mike and your chat on the day.

I'm sewn on a taller diff now if you can find be one?

Barbon is a great hill, and the setting second only to Shelsley Walsh, but it is a close call.

My wife might argue I'm back in love with my mistress called Lola..as i spend more money and time with Lola than Trish.

It could change yet again if I have a return of the backfires!

I think it is all put to bed now and I can concentrate on driving the thing on the hills, but nothing is a given when pushing the car hard on 12 feet of undulating tarmac.

Caught up with Graham at Barbon on Saturday, nice to meet you.

Took a couple of (poor) shots of the car.

Popped down to the paddock area, I was surprised how young Graham is!

Image

Asked how it went and I got the thumbs up

Image

Reckoned if his legs were longer he would go a bit quicker.

The chief mechanic was a bit miserable, she said it was that cold she had turned blue.

Great to see you and the car!

Ah...the joys of Hillclimbing and the 'family affair' it is.
My daughter at that age was a bundle of fun too (she nearly wore me out in 5 mins)

Nice to meet a DDK'er, come back next year! :)
