911 2.4 T R Gruppe for sale - advice

Post by MarkIII »

looking for some advice guys. Theres a 2.4 T R Gruppe for sale on the private Sales forum. I am newish to DDK, joined a few weeks ago.

Currently have a 993 2S and am looking to get into early 911 ownership. Would like a 2.4 E, however there seems to be zero around at the moment. Was also looking for an original car as possible.

i have seen the above 2.4 T R Gruppe, to be honest i am not familiar with R gruppe.... i assume the car has been modified etc...

Questions, whats the difference between a std 2.4 T and this car, also is this a viable option with respect to potentially resale....

any advice welcome

r gruppe is like a US version of DDK that is generally invoked as a 911 version of the top gear cool wall, or to mean hot rodded or non standard

it doesnt actually mean anything although that doesnt stop me wanting an R gruppe sticker for my car

I would focus on the facts...what has been done to the car...what are the bills from 911 Classic etc...how "restored" is it?? what paperwork is there for the engine rebuild etc

nothing wrong with a 2.4T with nice upgrades at all ... but resale I suspect most on here would say originality trumps hot rod. The US is hot rod central and Germans go mad for clean original patina...prob we are somewhere in the middle

if you want a car to drive with extra performance over std, it looks good...if you want a really original car with paperwork from a "brand name" Porsche specialist I dont think this is it...personal choice really

have you PM'd the vendor?

BMW R9T
Trek Superfly
but sadly no Porsches any more

no i havnt pm'd the seller yet,

my preference would be an original car, however finding a 2.4 E which has been looked after, from my experience of looking over the last 6 weeks i think i will be hunting for a long time...

had decided against a hot rod / modified car, however there are a few around at the moment. big concern as you pointed out is the resale aspect..

Mark - if you want an original car then you'll probably have to wait until the right one comes along.

If originality is as important as it seems then I'm not sure the R-Gruppe T is for you - I'm sure Jasper (the owner) won't mind me saying that he's Porsche-Mad !! And is lucky enought to have a fantastic stable of cars to fulfill whatever mood he has on a particular day - standard/hot-rod/modern/classic - he's a lucky fella.

6 weeks isn't really that long to be looking - and hopefully as the year opens up a bit - some more cars will start to appear on the market.

Sam on here from Paul Stephens appears to have cornered the market for top quality cars at the moment - I'm sure he'd be able to source the right car for you - as long as your finances can take it !!

Good luck with the search.

regards
Sean

Hi Sean.

I called Paul Stephens a few weeks ago and spoke to Sam, at the time there was nothing fitting my spec, maybe worth another call...

Cheers
