Did not mean to be techy and do welcome the observations - bare in mind the 45 K is Euro - it's actually £37 ,675 pounds![]()

I would look at this from a different perspective, you are all valuing it as a 2.7RS replica, rather than a 2.4S. A perfectly restored matching numbers LHD 2.4S would fetch IRO £90K - £100K (maybe £150K at Essen
), a non matching car maybe £10 - £15k less. It would not take more than £30K to return it to original spec and colour, hence the €45K price is probably in the ball park.

If it's to be returned to a stock 2.4S ( non matching numbers ) , then at that price I'd say it might just be cost effective , depending on wether you can do body & paint yourself or wether you pay someone else to do it .

Good point Nick, I think the the fact that it's a 2.4s needs to be emphasised more in the description. Play on that rather than the RS conversion which in all fairness looks a little rough around the edges and certainly isn't adding any value.

but on the convert back to a 2.4S theme, I note that Autofarm's 2.4 S has been for sale for months, comes from a "brand name" establishment, with masses of recent history bills etc and in the undisputed best colour for early cars, ahem,
Obviously its not OEM spec its "gentlemans racer spec" but has not sold at £70k, discount that and work back, then apply a suitable discount for what you might find under the paint on this one etc etc and you are struggling to get to £40k?

Re: 1972 911S - to RS conversion - whats a fair price ?
you are probably right....theres such an annoying gap between originality driving values up and the spec you would choose for ultimate driving pleasure / performance / safety
if I could start again i'd probably buy a completely original 2 litre 65 car and store it, and also buy the fastest, best modified car I could find...trying to combine both is value destructive

It's a pity it's not still a signal yellow 2.4S. It would be worth A LOT more.

For a "T" maybe but for an "S" I think it's more than that.nick-moss wrote:a non matching car maybe £10 - £15k less.

Re: 1972 911S - to RS conversion - whats a fair price ?
We took the car for a good run on Sunday – she drives beautifully and the Pilot ( an S owner for the past 6 years ) was very complimentary - some pics of the interior at the W/E - low resolution at the moment - not hiding anything – it is that tatty ! will upload as hi res this week
Thanks for the positive input; the car is really a candidate for restoration to non MN "S" Status
The next task is to complete the For Sale add photographs ……mighty tempting to delay it for another W/E
meaning we just have to take it for another run next Sunday ……………………

Sounds as if all that's left of real value is the 'S' shell assuming that's fairly straight, so what would a bare shell go for these days then add 10k max for the non S bits that are fitted to it
