You never know it might contain a pic of the car .

details are all gettign a bit lost here ... so is this correct :

Robs Lamplough had ways of buying ( possibly cheap & surplus ) Porsche via the back door via John Adlington, owner of AFN ?
Rob bought a surplus prototype that was going cheap with 'cash from winings ' & got it converted at the factory to RHD.
Rob imported it & straight away sold it to Paddy McNally & thus got his 'clean' undeclared cash back
Paddy McNally kept it for a year & then sold it to Jo Siffert

Is this right ?

Wondering why Jo bought it when he had his own dealership in Switzerland

Very interesting story chaps, I hope that you can piece all the history, amazing how it ended up neglected in a Barn, did I miss this detail, or did the farmer advise how it came to reside there ?

Sadly, you can only go back seven years, I believe, but they can go back as far as necessary to get their hands on a Porsche...

Re: your comment about this thread and Delwyn's 356, don't even think about saying sory. Crazy idea.

As for the archives connection, PM me with a concise version of what you need to find out and I'll see what I can do.

Excellent thread Mike. I must write up my own barn find thread when you finish yours. Good ending too!

It took 3 years to piece together the info but never wrote it up. Look forward to seeing the car.

Charles.

To be fair after 22 pages he's still in 1969....by my reckoning we will be in 2013 before we get back to the farmer....

What an amazing story....I discovered a similar car a few years ago, a factory prototype gifted to Jo Siffert in April 1971:

I wrote to Dieter Landenberger at the Porsche Museum and got a reply relatively quickly providing me with copies of their registry. Perhaps you should call him or send him an email?

Amazing.....

I have emailed Mr Landenberger several times over the last few weeks (after you sent me his details in our recent correspondence) and I have not received any kind of response whasoever.

Mike

I've also written to my friend Dieter at the archive, but he is on holiday until 28th of this month, so we must be even more patient... :compress:
