WTD: Weber throttle retrun springs X2 (901.108.631.00)
Hi, I'm looking for 2 original style Weber throttle retrun springs (901.108.631.00).
Can anyone help with new or good used ones or know where they are still available?
Also after a short drop linkage connection rod with ball socket end in good condition. One of mine is quite worn with too much slack movement in the ball/socket joints.
I appreciate this particular bit is readily available new, but if you have one as well as the springs then do say.
Thanks
Andrew

Cheers guys,
I have springs that sort of do the job but wanted the correct ones with the extended connections on either end and short spring section in the middle.
Might try Mittlemotor if no one esle on here can help with some decent used ones.
Anyone else got any going spare ?

Thanks Ian,
just tried these guys this morning but thay say they are NLA from Weber.
Funny enough they don't seem to appear on the Weber parts diagram.
Still looking ?

Mine are an exact copy of the originals. Took me a while but I got there.
If you don't fancy it yourself there are several spring makers in the UK who I am sure would help.
Cant remember the name of the one I looked up but I will try and find the link. The main problem was ordering a cost effective quantity. If you get some made I am sure there will be plenty of takers. In the end I was very lucky to find a length of spring in my scrap box almost the exact diameter of my broken one.

Re: WTD: Weber throttle retrun springs X2 (901.108.631.00)
Hi Mike, as ever you are committed to perfection !
Don't think I'd be prepared to go as far as getting them remanufactured myself in a production sized batch.
I'd like the real thing but it's not like there arn't things available that can do the job even if they don't look right, and I can't imagine people would pay much for a spring to cover the batch remanufacturing cost even if it did look like the original. Maybe I'm wrong.
Still hoping someone out there has a pair in the odments box ??

Andrew, don't know if you're fixed up yet but I found this whilst re-reading the 50 pages of Ferry Man's ST build....

I could probably help if anyone is ever looking for any of the million and one little springs that are present on these cars. I work for a bespoke spring manufacturer so nothing "off the shelf" but we can make pretty much anything spring wise.

Re: WTD: Weber throttle retrun springs X2 (901.108.631.00)
Sounds like he could make some springs if he had an original one to copy.
To do it right and ensure the correct action I'm sure he would need one to copy.
Anyone volunteering a donor original spring to send to Fitz ?
Sounds like he would get a few individual takers on DDk never mind the usual suspects like Bob Watson, Tuthills, Mike Bainbridge, etc. who I'm sure would have some.

If you really want the right spring/rates etc PMO springs are Weber copies.
Email Richard Parr at PMO and with a credit card they will arrive 3 days later in a jiffy bag.
Graham.
ps:
Try Webcon in London direction first!

Thanks Graham,
Tried Webcon but they couldn't help.
Can't belive I didn't think of PMO before given I have some sat out in the garAge on my 914/6GT ! I'll check mine and give them a call.
Thanks

Re: WTD: Weber throttle retrun springs X2 (901.108.631.00)
Hi All,
I am currently in talks to re-manufacture a batch quantity of various springs for another DDKer (I won't reveal whom but if he wishes to reveal himself that's fine). I've only just received the samples so we have yet to price them up but they should certainly be available soon (if the price is accepted, of course).
Springs are very simple mechanical energy storage devices with very linear load characteristics (unless they have a variable pitch, of course) so as long as all the original parameters are adhered to (material diameter and type, spring diameter, free length and number of turns) then any re-manufactured spring should be indistinguishable from the original in terms of feel (not taking into account the 40+ years of use and corrosion of course
).

Re: WTD: Weber throttle retrun springs X2 (901.108.631.00)
Hi Fitz,
have you been asked to make these particular springs ?
Here is a reasonable link to a picture so you know which ones thay are. (Item 15 if you explode the diagram)
http://www.einmaligparts.com/Tension-Sp ... 43249.html
If you are making these ones for the mystery DDk'er then how much will they be ?
Just as a general point I wouldn't want them any less 'stiff' than the originals when fitting to our old, knackered and worn 40+ year old carbs.
Cheers
Andrew

Re: WTD: Weber throttle retrun springs X2 (901.108.631.00)
Possibly, it's a bit difficult to tell even with the diagram enlarged but I do certainly have two different extension (tension) springs with one extended hook to take into work tomorrow. With regard to price this would, of course, depend on the quantity being made (if we were only making one set or two springs the cost per spring would seem astonomical) but as this is being done through the company (not just a personal favour) I think I should not pre-empt the client deciding on a resale price.
Anthony.
