Harry Pellow engine assembly videos

Post by cab66 »

Hello, I am about to convert and rebuild a 1964. 616/33-1 industrial engine to 60bhp Damen engine for my 1963 beetle.
As this is my first porsche engine rebuild,I would very much like to get myself a set of Harry Pellows engine dvd's.
I have tried to e-mail to the adress found on the web site, but it hasn't been replied.
Maybe someone here knows how to get in contact or where to buy?

Thanks

I'd really like a set too. It's a shame it seems they have gone out of production. Anyone out there who has both the video/dvd and the books - can you recommend which to buy, whether to get both, etc etc?

Thanks

Here`s some Harry Pellow DVDs on ebay, if you look at the guys feedback it seems he`s churning them out.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230703679861? ... 3D1&_rdc=1

There is a chance they`re not legit.

Quite a big one.

But people seem happy.

Hi
I have a set of Five Maestro video's that I am willing to part with, these are american format VHS, so check that your video player will play them if you still have one.
The tapes are:
Tape 1 Dissassembly and inspection
Tape 2 Machine shop and priliminary work
Tape 3 Lower end assembly upto pistons
Tape 4 Top end assembly and sheet metal
Tape 5 Webbers,050 distributor and fire up

Make me a sensible offer.

Regards
Nigel

I bought a set direct from his family via http://maestroslibrary.com/ though it would seem they are not taking orders at the moment :(

It took me a few attempts to get in touch and I found the phone (leave your number and they ring you back since the man himself has passed away and his family kindly keep his website going and process orders for books etc when they have time) to be best but I felt it was worth the effort to make sure my cash went to the rightful copyright owner rather than some random on ebay who makes copies for a fast buck (not pointing the finger at any vendor in particular but the possibility is there).

As long as I could get permission for such an idea then whilst they are not available at source, I'd be willing to make copies of mine for anyone that can't afford to wait (I have the full set of engine rebuild DVDs and a copy of "secrets" on CD) in exchange for the cost of materials and postage and a dontation from the recipient to Harry's memorial fund at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

I used the videos / dvds as a basis for my rebuilds but found they lacked clarity in places so have written my blog to help clarify certain areas.

Hopefully the clearer images will help with rebuild.

I contacted Mary Pellow and received the following reply:

My son Andrew Pellow is still selling the books & a DVD of the engine rebuilding series. I have copied Andrew here & he should send a reply in a day or two. If not, please let me know & we can come to some arrangement.

Thank you so much for your integrity & respect of Harry’s hard work.

My best wishes for a warm & hearty holiday season,

Mary Pellow

So they are available at source and I hope to receive details on how to place orders soon, obviously I'll then post said details here
