Was the kid in the car when it went over the edge??

The 4 year old of a friend of mine did that

I hopped out of the car to get the pay and display ticket and a discovered a Pagoda can be knocked out of park (which is at the rear of the gate) without a foot also being on the brake pedal. The car rolled forward a about 3ft into the car parked nose on...

The grille star on a Pagoda is very expensive, and sharp enough to pierce the (also expensive) radiator. But not hard enough to damage a renault Clio

The lad DID live to see his 5th birthday

I bet that turns out to be a write-off. Insurance companies automatically tend to write-off any car that has been in water to any degree. Add to the water, look at the paint/panel damage all down the side, plus whatever's been done underneath... Ouch!

Bit of T-Cut and an AquaVac and maybe some tape for the rear window, be as good as new.

My youngest loves playing in the car on the drive. Will have to make sure that I chock the wheels going forward now

Also, if anyone else does let their children play in their car when they are not in it, then take out the cigarette
lighter(s).

Wouldnt that merc have an electronic hand brake? if so wouldnt the ignition need to be on for it to opperate?
Lessons to be learnt here, could easily have been so much worse.

if that R-class is the same as my ML, it has a foot operated handbrake, released with a handle on the underside of the dash. CAr should have been left in "P" though ... you can not take it out of Park without having your foot on the brake pedal ...... so in this case it looks like the kid wasn't totally at fault, the parent should have left the car in "P"

So I take it you're not going to let him play in the 914, then?

How's it going, BTW?
