If they are the same individual letters as early 911 ones I have a new boxed set of chrome ones, £25 plus postage.

Thanks for your offer, but I'm trying to stay with chrome to match the bumpers etc.

You car is a 1972 model year and built to look like a six.

To keep it looking correct, attention to detail,

the car should have GOLD letters.

1970-1972 model years GOLD
1973-1976 model year SILVER

Gold letters match the bonnet badge

on your car.

Mine has no lettering on the engine lid, is that correct or have they been removed at some point?

This is correct.
Porsche engine lid letters were only fitted to North American 914's.
