2010 Campaign Underway

Post by Barry »

Hi Folks, well I'm pleased to confirm that the first donations for 2010 have started to arrive, and rumours are abound of various ideas for the year.

As you can see, Bootsy has created a dedicated charity sub-section, which is great, as I could never remember where the various threads were  .

One bit of news: I had a call the other day from my local Macmillan office. It seems that, bequeaths aside, we made it into their Top Twenty fundraisers for that office in 2009. Nice to know, and very nice to get a phonecall with the news.

They were at pains to ask me to pass on their thanks for all of the work and donations that the DDK'ers have provided. I gather that within the Macmillan organisation we are quite well known (notorious?) these days.

I'd like to echo their sentiments if I may: time and again people have gone to a lot of effort to make a donation, some large, some small, but all have made the effort to write out a cheque, provide some details, and get it into the post to me, and that's quite aside from the donation itself. Great stuff, and very much appreciated.

Just a belated update on our 2010 campaign.

In the end I processed twenty one cheques giving a grand total of £1299.50p Just about all of the donations had Gift-Aid forms attached, therefore 28% or so can be added to the total in terms of usable monies for Macmillan.

There's actually one more cheque owed which will take this sum up a little further.

Still, a good year during difficult times, so in many ways this total means more than some of the bigger numbers from previous years 8) .

Well done everyone, we all know what a great charity Macmillan is, and sadly as each year passes, it seems that more and more DDK families need the services Macmillan offer. It's good to know that we are doing our bit to give something back.

Thank you all.
