Absolutely Stunning - this picture is now my desktop.

I was planning to restore my B back to factory specs but you've got me thinking now.

Enjoy it, it's a credit to you.

Cheers
Dear Dusty, on your desktop, I am honored. Very cool. Just a side note, the metal building in the backdrop is the Martindale Fire House for their one fire truck, very cool, had a blast, thanks for your kind words, check the car out in March in Classic Porsche.

Thanks,
Shane

I also noticed an SC or Carrera in the background of one shot is that yours too?

I subscribe to Classic Porsche so will look forward to the article. Hopefully it will inspire me when I look at the rusty wreck that is my 356!

Cheers

Well done Shane - great result :) have to say your genuine enthusiasm comes through on your thread both here and on the registry so I guess being disappointed was never going to be an option, but that was some punt you took having never been in a tub before 8) GLad its worked out so well :P

Bill and I on January 21st, minutes after car unveil

Post by balkowitsch »

Here is a picture of Bill and I that he posted on his website, this is minutes after he revealed the car to me.

Thanks everyone for all of the support, you guys and gals have been great. As I have discussed many times this process has been a dream come true. Next mission is to drive the car with much conviction and at a swift pace all over North Dakota when it comes back in May. Thanks for continuing to follow my Saga.

Thanks,
Shane

First Video from Harris Hill Road

Post by balkowitsch »

I am very excited to share with everyone the first of 2 videos that we have coming from our Track Day at Harris Hill Road. I am driving the car in this video with my good friend Tom Lamphear riding shotgun. We were not pushing the car, just trying to not hit a Ferrari or another Porsche or run into the back of the Chase Car where the video was taken from. It was a blast!

I will have another video shortly of Bill and his Fast Lap!

Thanks,
Shane

Exhaust Coming

Post by balkowitsch »

Hello everyone, thanks for continuing to follow my restoration, talked with Bill and the Jim Constas Ceramically Coated Sebring exhaust system will be in his hands tomorrow, he will install it and he is arranging covered truck to bring it up to North Dakota for me. The Stebro that I had originally gone with developed some exhaust leaks and had some alignment issues, after giving them over 100 days to correct the issue :banghead:, I have abandoned Stebro from a handcrafted Sebring by Jim Constas, it will look cleaner, not as bulky, it will be lighter and it is ceramically coated so none of that damn discoloration of the polished stainless. Besides it sounds amazing from what I have heard so far. So thanks for watching me cross the home stretch, it has been nearly 2 years since we started.

Thanks,
Shane

Hey Shane good to hear from you, I thought you`d dropped off the radar.

Glad to hear you are having teething problems.... You didn`t really think you`d build the car and that would be that, did you ??

Congratulations on your other addition.

Keep us informed,

Mike.

Finally Home in North Dakota

Post by balkowitsch »

Well it finally happened, my Outlaw made it back to North Dakota and I have put a 1000 miles on it already. It is so nice to finally have it back home. Some new pictures at

www.btinet.net/~sharoncol/porsche356.htm

Also a new article from Aircooled Classics out there as well.

Thanks for following my restoration, we are finally complete and now I can focus on enjoying the car and being a caretaker in the years to come until I pass the car down to my children.

Thanks,
Shane Balkowitsch

Lost Historic Porsche Photograph

Post by balkowitsch »

Here is a lost photograph of Ferdinand Porsche and Ferry Porsche with my Outlaw in the spring of 1948, seventeen years before the car even came off the assembly line?

A good friend of mine does photoshop editing for magazines for a living and he specializes in cars and he made my day by putting this photograph together for me. Hope it gives all you registry members a little chuckle, have a great weekend.

By the way I topped 1000 miles on the Outlaw last night around 10:30pm on a road trip to get some groceries for the wife.

Thanks,
Shane
