This ones easy , RS lightweight looks good , RS touring looks worse with naff old chrome tat stuck all over it !!!! Ha Ha
What's that interesting bolt-on chrome thing above your rear number plate Gaz? I have not seen one before. Do you have the name of a supplier? I fancy one for my plain rep to bling it up a bit. Mine's black which as you know can look a bit boring without the odd lift. I was thinking of a colour change too and I was wondering if you are happy with yours. Guards red is such a stunning colour and suits your car really nice. It is Guards isn't it? Sometimes it's hard to tell on a computer screen. Although there are a lot of red Porches about so maybe that bright green would be better. It might blind you reflecting through the windows but I quite fancy having a bright green Porch. (not sure my mates wouldn't take the mickey if I did turn up in it).

By the way, there are people on here who know jack sh*t about Porches and they are ALWAYS the ones who never shut up.

You enjoy your car mate, and if you ever need anything, or need advice just post it up ( although if you like a plain car you probably won't need much).

Regards
Mike

What makes me laugh is that because i said "the extra chrome trim bits on an RS touring look naff and that the ST and R models look worse than RS /RSR models" all of a sudden i'm public enemy no1  . Then when the forum bullies gang up and have a go at me for merely taking about "parts" then that's alright  . Pretty shonkey way to carry on really so i feel sorry for you !!!!

If when reading back this and the RS thread you feel that's what happened Gaz then fine. Nobody ganged up on you or made an enemy of you. Rather than express opinion in a mannered way you repeatedly fuelled annoyance with the language and nature of your posts.

If you feel You were treated in a 'shonkey' manner then sorry but DDK is obviously not the forum for you and I wish you well. If anybody genuinely bullied you then I would apologise but I've just re read both posts so won't bother.

PS. No need to feel sorry for any of us, your pity is best preserved for when you will undoubtedly need it in the future

Take care

Yes but they both mean the same thing and what's the point of beating around the bush . If they look naff and you say so it's hardly offensive , the forum bullies are far more offensive so they should take a look at themselves before moaning about me describing "parts" . :)

Bootsy i understand why you're sticking up for the clique and i won't hold it against you . I also won't stoop to their level and attack them on a personal basis either . All i did was talk about car "parts" so as far as i'm concerned i've done nothing wrong . cheers . :)

Thanks for not holding anything up against me Gaz, I'd much rather you didn't.

No cliques on here. Just a gathering of some of the most well mannered, level headed, fair and non judgemental people you'll ever meet.

Take care.

I believe that DDK is "maverick" not "clique" in operation and is so successful because of that (and open minded enough to incorporate Tractors that both have and don't have the tat bits of chrome trim).

OP,
I think building an RSR is a great idea. I would if i was a bit more flush as it is a faithful lightweight rep will do me just fine

Stage two will be the wide body pretty much like the pic Gulf blue posted eariler.

I'm reluctant to join Mk1Gaz in the gun sights* but having met him briefly to pick up some parts for another DDk'er he came across as a nice normal chap, and a total car nut to boot.

Gaz on this forum are some of the main names in the classic Porsche scene some of whom I have met over the years.
Many with Porsche experience since before I was born so while you may not agree with them and hold different opinions imho you may want to temper some of your posts abit

Matt, my car is also based on a 74.It was converted to rs lightweight spec in 2003 to a very good standard.I bought the car in 2005,and since then have been converting it to rsr spec,(although it's rhd). It's never going to be an exact copy, but if you can do the basics as Mike pointed out,you can get it pretty close. One thing I would add,I think it's quite important to try and have the inside of the car as close to original as possible. At the end off the day,it would be quite nice to have a car that drives and handles somewhere close to what these great cars were like back then.
