Forget the handling urban myth, any performance car driven like a loon will bite. As for a young family, many of us on here travel a lot in our 911s with the family 4 or 3 up. I've never felt I'm endangering them with any wayward handling characteristics.

SCs tend to have better throttle response than 3.2 so do feel livelier but in the real world there is very little between the two. If MPG is a factor 3.2s are better.

'Settled down' come on!!

I'm finding it very hard to get an idea on values for a G50 3.2, there seems to be a huge range. I've read John Glynn's posts on values which seem to make a lot of sense. There seems to be a lot of people trying to talk up the prices. Im not sure if the market is following? I'm guessing too that they are reaching an age now where condition is more important than number of owners, mileage or number of stamps in the book?

One thing I've done in the past when looking at values is to go through the ads I can find on PH, autotrader etc and put all the cars I can find in a spreadsheet with details of miles, colour, trade or private, price, special features, service history or not, rebuild or not, etc.

Once you get to 6 or 8 cars, the pattern of prices emerges. For that kind of car (G50 3.2), I think you'll find that no of owners has little bearing. There is a very strong correlation between price and mileage.

I've just been doing it looking at 930s

Of course you are only seeing the asking price rather than a sale price, but it gives an idea of the landscape.

Maybe he read it as 996's?

993's have to be the most reliable 911 Porsche ever made though surely...

:? Indeed!

Apart from those awkward to change cam cover seals 993s aren't known For their oil leaks.

Sorry , i was thinking of the newer version with the Boxster headlights  . Easier to call them mk1 , mk2 , mk3 ,mk4 ,mk5 etc as all those 3 digit build code numbers get confusing when you only like the old ones .

3.2's are MUCH better on mpg
have much better ventilation and heating
can have much improvement to Bhp / response by checking
(a) you are achieving full throttle when pedal fully depressed
(b) you have a Steve Wong chip fitted to ECU ((ask Alam))

This is true for both 915 and G50

LOOK FOR RUST.

A live remap from somebody like Wayne Schofield will be better for not much more money.
