Gave a liberal covering of VW gearbox sealer to case halves and squeezed together (making sure cam followers didn’t fall out) to give a nice ooze like this
Bolt it together and the short block is nearly done
HI James
you may need to fit the lock-tabs on the cam gear bolts so thay are not hugging the bolt head and thay are actualy locking the bolt's on the cam.
Wow - making rapid progress on the engine James - do you still need the dvd's? I'm back in the country on Tuesday and I'll post them to you then if you haven't already finished!

Yes please, couple of things I just want to check with the Maestro
And then replaced oil pressure relief valves, there are two, one in the 3rd (timing piece) of the case and one in the crankcase. They are slightly different, as you can see from the length and size of the springs
The distributor and fuel pump drive gear also go in the case once attached, seen here before taking out again and mounting to show where it sits in relation to the case
Third piece on and gear in before putting the spring on top for the dizzy (the crank had been turned slightly in this pic - at TDC#1 the slots would be perpendicular to the case)

Looking fantastic James, you're really coming on with that engine.
I remember the photo of the 3 356s together at Harewood, is that really 6 years ago? Remember breaking down at the entrance of Harewood (fuel starvation because of the fuel tap).
Must make sure I go this year.
