Getting realy bored waiting for the first event (in 2 weeks time now) so my mind and welder has done a few things.
In an effort to make the car far more confortable to drive for the 40 seconds i actually 'race' the thing, I have re-set the steering wheel position. This has resulted in a far better 'ape-hanging' grip on the wheel but also the wheel is tilted over to the centre of the car due to the weird rack in the car (non Lola spec).
After someone actually responding to me on the S2000 site (where I'm known as The Butcher) the Lola spec is a Mk1 Escort and LHD.(!)
Oddly I have bought a new one for all of £99 deliverd off Ebay. When fitted the steering shaft will be much more in-line in comparison. A job for the summer if i can wait that long.
Also, at a hillclimb you have to remove the body to expose the chassis for scutineering which is a pain as it sure takes up a lot of space.
I decided to make the rear clam hinge back on a new frame of tubes. After a fight which i semi won with a reluctant MIG welder, all is done.
Woke the trusty 911 up last sunday after going into my new Carcoon in the garden in October.
Re-charged the 8 year old batteries, turned the key and Vrrummm, straight onto 6 cylinders and a rock steady 1000 rpm....
Sometimes I wonder why I bother with this Lola!
