A little holiday vist to Al Holberts

Post by Simon Rudge »

Whilst playing around on holiday in the Philadelphia area, I went out to Holbert Porsche (whilst the bosses went round a Mall).

Not much left of the race side of Al Holbert now, one or two little touches that were nice, the yard gate is held open with a 956 wheel! Some classic posters on the walls as well.

Had a look at the old race shop, now all closed up. I did however, have coffee with a couple of guys who used to work in the shop and had some great stories to tell. The best was a recollection of giving a race car a blast up and down the road outside the shop to bed it down a little, then trying to explain the the local copper that it may not have have been them at all. Not sure how many 965's were in daily use in that area!

A great couple of hours.
