Who would you recommend to re-build a 2.2s engine?

Go easy there; we have a place at Arnside and most of the estuary is like quicksand!

The chippy is very good though!

I know...we used to holiday there a lot when we were kids and our parents always told us horror stories about people getting stuck in the sand and then getting sucked down....just before the tidal bore comes up the channel....

Amazing I'm so well balanced really.

I can highly recommend Nick at Redtek. He built a 2.3 litre motor for my 2.2S, with a spec identical to the cars that raced at Le Mans in 1970. He was brilliant in researching it and making sure everything was period correct and that it all worked as a combination.

As to the cost of a rebuild it depends on what you're doing, what needs repairing and who's doing it. For instance the pistons and barrels on my car were shot - a replacement set were going to cost me north of £1,500 so I opted for a set of 1mm larger J&E's to give me the 2.3 litre capacity, which cost £600! A standard rebuild with just consumables (bearings, etc) seems to be about £5k, all the way up from there.... I won't quote what Banshee cost me for the engine, suffice to say I could've bought a good 911T for the same money. Having said that, there is no price to be put on Banshee at 8,000rpm on open megaphones. I must get more technically literate and put it on you tube or something.

cheers,
Steve

I agree, they seem to have a terrible rep online. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone....
