sport style muffler 2 in 2 out

Maybe Turbo Thomas is the way to go but that bit about Easylifes car being `eerily quiet` on one pipe is a bit disconcerting. Don`t want my car to sound like a Lexus.

As my car was at the garage yesterday for an MOT I go tthem to measure the volume properly on their kit. The results are:

On the single exit
revs - db
idle - 85
2k - 90
3k - 95
4k - 103
5k - 104
6k - 105

On the dual exit
revs - db
idle - 87
2k - 101
3k - 98
4k - 102
5k - 102
6k - 108

Even with these figures I know that the previous exhaust was much louder. Maybe not as loud as Mikes or Ash's RSR but lots louder than currently. I'm surprised by the little difference between the two results, the 100db at 2k on dual exits is the anomolaly but this is where the previous exhaust resonated anyway so this must be a design feature of a dual exit exhaust. This is a custom exhaust so may not be comparable with others. I don't think these figures are Lexus like though.

Overall the car is nicer to drive on longer journeys due to it being quieter and after reading De Cadenet's page in C&SC recently I know I'm not ruining my hearing too. I should be able to get onto 105db track days now so where do I buy some L plates from?

I don't know as I wasn't there when they were measured. If that is the standard for measurement then I would assume that is how it would have been done. My garage have a good reputation for preparing and supporting aircooled Porsches for trackdays/ PCGB carerra cup, etc so I trust they would have measured it in the same way as at a track as there aren't many other reasons for wanting to know how loud your exhaust is.
