The original Lola T 492 with Ford Pinto weighed 460Kg dry/no driver.
The 911 engine and box i think are 60Kg heavier, so about 520Kg.
The original had about 130 bhp/ 460Kg, so about 280 bhp/tonne
This thing has about 220/560 so about 400 bhp/tonne.
But It also has all that tyre grip...
And the brakes.....
But then there is the old codger driver...

Scarey is a far better interpretation.
I just cannot wait Gary to drop the clutch at 4000rpm.
My 'hot' Impreza hillclimb car was 370 bhp in 1250Kg / 300 bhp/T
My 911 is 220bhp in 1000Kg / 220 bhp/tonne
You get a feel for the power to weight here, and the 911 is deemed a bit of a lightweight at 1000Kg:

Real magnesium alloy from Dymag, made in 1974.
They are 13'' dia with 14'' wide rear and 10'' wide fronts.
Mega rare, and crack-free.
They have just been refurbished by Dymag themselves for the huge sum of £500 for 6 wheels!
The flat fan was designed and made as a one-off by a fiend of the past owner Terry Davison (ex PCGB President) and Crispin Manners.
Quite novel to see it spinning.

Are you going to have graphics on the body or just leave it plain red?

The 'clean' look has grown on me tbh.
I was going to sticker-it-up so it at least looks like a race car, but i now like the appearence as it is.
The Lola decals become more promanent I think...
Not sure about the red but I fancy the 908/3 silver/Martini look.

It will all prob grow on me.

As to it being fast?
Not really. This is only about 420 bhp/ton, double my 911 and for a real hillclimber car that is a tad weak.
Most run 600+ bhp/ton and even 1000 in the top classes.
It will be quick if the driver is!

Actually drove the Lola today on a private day at the local sprint track.
Quite a day, but 2 major probs reared their heads.
1
Huge crankcase pressures/oil spewing out, but resolved at the track.
2
Crazy gear selection problems.
I think I've fixed it tonight (remove all the play in the system) with a final part tomorrow to make.
It sure goes, esp when you eventually find 3rd...
What a killa gear.
Handling/cornering etc is pure dream stuff, what a chassis.
Pics later I hope. As if by magic! Thanks to John for the pics tonight.

Brilliant, Graham! Well done!
All the grief over the last year must seem worthwhile now.................
Can't wait to see it in action - have you tried Roger for a late entry to the Shelsley Classic?
See you soon

Well done Graham, bet you thought this moment would never come especially a couple of weeks ago when not even a pep talk would raise a smile
So how does she handle, understeer?, and how was the brake balance? Bet it pulls really well. Are you going to try and run her on a damp track before Loton?, far too many questions
Speak soon and congrats
Matt
