Just found this thread.

Eh, where was that pic of my car taken? Cosford? Oh yes, when I parked on the path!!! Ha ha! Oops!

Mine was fabricated in stainless steel by TurboThomas as my car has cuts in the rear valance and the pipes are higher than on the jigs he made when making the original on Bootsy's car. The ends on mine are capped off by nature of a bolt welded in at the bottom of the pipe (nobody ever sees it) and I use a 5mm allen key to unbolt the end caps to change from 1 to 2 outlets.

I wanted the choice of dual output for the noise and a single output to keep the neighbours happy as they have a new baby and me waking them up on sunday mornings isn't fair.

Used the single outlet once so far on the journey home and it was eerily quiet. Not like my car sounds like at all so have kept it with 2.

If you want one where you don't have to cur holes in your rear valance then he already has the jig for that and it should be a quick turnaround. I had to wait a month or so for a slot to leave my car with him for a week mine as it was custom. I have a dyno of my engine on the old exhaust so might see what difference it makes with the new one at Bob watsons. Hmmm..... more money....

I'd recommend TurboThomas to anyone for an exhaust.

yes I emailed with him a couple of times and he made a price on a 2 in 3 out muffler with the offset of the pipes as my pic at the top with a nice cap like the pic in the middle.
if more people are interested to buy this let me know .

mine was made by M&K in the same grade stainless steel as the SSI's they're fitted to. I don't know what grade of stainless steel Turbo Thomas uses but I can vouch for the quality of the M & k ones They are epic and capped are still glorious. I have the receipt from Ben at M & K and delivered they came in at £309. However if you want to track day your car in the UK you'll struggle to get under 105db, at Goodwood they measured me at 114 with caps on, though I'd already miffed him off by speeding in the tunnel so rather doubt I'd ever have got on. Mind you at le mans they certainly woke Bert up

Mike, I followed your muffler posts with great interest and loved the sound in Wales last year. I contacted M&K last December asking for prices. This was their reply.

"Mike,
You would have to go with a 2 in sport(12” inches on center)/ stock tail pipe location to work in a stock bodied 68. The muffler could be built with no polish (except stock tail pipe) and 2 caps with pin clamps for $750 at a normal price I would charge $850 but With a rather weak economy and you being refered I will make one for the $750. This quote is good for the next 2 weeks as stainless prices are all over the place.2

Add to this price, shipping, import sting in the tail and the PO handling costs that I always seem to pay, bringing things in from the states... and it looks like you got a real bargain.

Maybe Turbo Thomas is the way to go but that bit about Easylifes car being `eerily quiet` on one pipe is a bit disconcerting. Don`t want my car to sound like a Lexus.

You'll have to come down to the next Midlands Breakfast Club and see/hear it for yourself. Or drop me a PM if you're near the east mids in the near future one weekend and I'd be happy to take you for a spin to appreciate the difference.

The car has always been really loud in the almost 2 years I've owned it so it was a large drop in volume when on a single pipe that was really noticable. I prefer to think of it as discreet rather than Lexus like!! If I can find a free volume level app on my iphone, I'll try and take some measurements unless anyone knows of another cheap alternative? I do prefer to quantify things that can be measured.

There is nothing to stop you from getting TT to not pack as much sound deadening material in it to keep a more fruity note. It is a custom exhaust after all so you get what you asked for!

Thanks for the offer James but I fear I won`t be getting down to the Midlands sometime soon. I do, however, see you`ll be doing the coast to coast, so I`ll bide my time and look forward to hearing (and seeing) your car there. Unless there`s a sudden flurry of group buy activity, I don`t soppose I`ll get round to a three pipe exhaust before then.

I've found some free and chargable apps for my iphone and will test them out soon. I just need to get the car out and test it. Busy weekends and a looming holiday means it may not be this month. I'll keep you posted.

What is the standard for measuring exhausts volume? Is it at a metre away when the car is at a set rev limit? Must do some searching as I'm sure I remember Ferryman posting some pics of him testing his recently.

I have no idea. The pictures are from an ad, the seller doesn't know what it is either. He has had it for many years.
I'm thinking of buying it, but he wants a little too much for it.

Also I want something lighter, the original is a beast!
