Yellow 914s everywhere !!

Post by amallagh »

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... ink:top:uk

Ultra modified 914/6 racer. Interesting that this car has an original 2 litre engine whilst every other aspect of the car (brakes, suspension, gearbox, shifter, interior, wheels, chassis, etal) is highly modified with updated or uprated parts. Is this Paul Herberts car ?

Another yellow one at the opposite end of the performance scale !
£6k bid with 2 days to go has to be a record for a 914/4 on ebay these days. Must be because it's yellow. Looks nice in the pictures though.

I was thinking the same, re price not colour!
Can't wait to see what it goes for. Makes the blue one on Pistonheads

look like a bargain.

Mind you, a restoration project for 5 grand

certainly doesn't look like a bargain.

I agree Jon,
that Blue ones looks like a great buy for someone. If I was in the market it's certainly one I would look at. I'd seen that £5k resto project one on piston heads as well. It does seem completely out of context with other ones around. The whole classic car market is a bit like this at the moment.

Some people are still advertising cars at the peak of prices from over 12 months ago whilst others have reduced their expectations in line with demand. As they say, you can advertise a car for any amount you want !!

I don't know if you noticed but the £5k resto project is being sold by the same dealer as the white £14k number that attracted so many comments a few weeks ago......

yes, it is Paul Herbert's car

I can't remember the history of the car - last time I saw it, it was running the 964 engine.
1966 912 Karmann Coupe - polo red.
1972 914/6 GT replica - 2.7 - signal orange.
1961 Standard 217 Tractor.
2003 Boxster S.
1967 Alfa Giulia Sprint GT Veloce.

As far as i know it's based on a 914-6 but isn't a factory GT, too cheap if it was.

I believe Paul is building another 914 race car.

OK  so contrary to the Ebay description

.... it's 914/6 with some 'aluminium GT wings' welded on (???) with crash damage and the engine needs rebuilding

Especially not as i sold it to him last week for £1630, and I thought I did well.

I think bidder 10 has certainly bumped the pricing up on the 2nd yellow 914 ?

The seller is clearly not residing on this planet but I have to admire his optimism. The £1650 he bought it for seems more realistic and probably still a challenge to get today when so many other serviceable cars are available for £4-£7k

This is the same car that Ady referred to above that he just sold to the same dealer recently for £1630. Not likely to be worth more then that.

But according to the Pistonheads ad it was originally Yellow!

Maybe it's worth 45k like PH's racer and the Export 56 one............
