ebay 911 E

Post by Disco »

Hello folks,

there's another 911 on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3DWatching

difficult to see much of the car - there's only one photo at the moment, but the chap says he's going to a few more up ( although he hasnt yet )

as its RHD, I'm interested in it, but wondered if its matching numbers... can anyone help.... I did by the way buy the little red porsche book
- but cant make head nor tail of it I'm afraid!

Chassis No : 9112.20.0724
Engine number is 622-1186

Thanks a million

Disco.

Thanks Bert,

for it to be matching numbers should the chassis No match the engine number - ie the engine number should be 0724?

sorry if this is a really daft question!

No, "matching numbers" means that the build number, which is listed on the Certificate of Authenticity, corresponds to A chassis to A gearbox and A motor.

So therefore you might have different numbers but it is matching "how it left the production line".

Why can people not even use spell checkers? It immediately puts me off....if they can not even write a proper advert how can you trust a single thing they say....its just lazy :|

This is My baby for sale! A Porsche 911 1972 Rs Reoplica 2..4cc six cylinder with touring rs leather seats, i have spent thousands over the years on the engine and bodywork. Its still needs respraying in certain areas as you would expect on a car this old. I would say its in good condition for the year. If five grand was thrown at this car it would worth a lot of money. I am selling it due to having to pay off a debt. If you would like to phone me reference questions please do on 07775593417. It has electric windows, central locking, clifford alarm,.

Looks very tempting.

I have 993 at the mo but always wanted a pre-impact car ideally a 2.4 RHD

I imagine £5k to make it fabulous is probably a bit optimistic – my thoughts are assuming the car is sound it will cost twice this amount. Still a mint E for £26k sounds like a good deal.

If it has bad rust and things are wrong with it then take the first number that comes into your head, multiply it by 100, then by 400, then by 32,000 and then check to see if the number on your last bank balance statement is higher or lower

sorry i take it all back, it sounds mint....

it still has the original back seats, the rs conversion had been done when i purchased the car six years ago, i have spent housands on the car structurely and on the engine, just left now is the exterior paint work and interior, i had a quote of five grand to make the car in fabulous condition.

The chassis and engine number are matched correctly. The car was originally metallic blue, beige interior, RHD E Lux.

RS Replica = front bumper only ???

I agree with Jason re: the advert quality.

Car could be a great find at £16K, but there again I suspect that is rust I can spot on the LH Headlamp, and so what lies beneath.

My main criteria to Tuthills when I bought my car was it had to be rust free (as could be reasonable) as fixing bodywork is a no-no for me and I have heard the horror stories on costs to get back to a rust free state.

Bert - you know you want to go and suss it out for us all.

I tend to put my money where my mouth is but i'd be suprised if my money was to go on this at first suspicions.

If it checks out ok on inspection then great buy...maybe

You don't have to dream though AlanUK has had a few cars for sale on here at £20k+ that are like virtually new classics...thats where my money would be if I was seriously after one.
