where does this hose go?

Post by hot66 »

Have not had a chance to have a proper investigation, but when having a quick check over the engine bay in my 2.4, I found a hose withouit a home.

The braided hose originates from the bottom of the aircleaner assy and at the moment ends up at the offside throttle bodies (MFI) where it is not connected to anything. Should this end have a home?

Not sure if it is the same one, but I found I had a hose missing from my air cleaner intake to the pipe in tin ware below and the heat exchangers, I think it is to aid winter warming.

Does anyone know if this should be connected for a 2.4t on zenniths? if they do has anyone got a spare?

cheers

Its a breather tube that goes to the oil tank. That's why when you over-fill the oil tank oil ends up in the aircleaner!

I think that the hose that comes out of the BACK of the air cleaner goes to the oil tank but on my car there is a second hole in the BOTTOM (in my case no pipe attached) that goes somewhere else so I would also be interested to know where it ends up.

the small hose from the bottom of the air cleaner goes to a conection on the tinware as (bury 73) this is just to the right of the oil stat at the back looking from the rear I have used fuel/vacuume pipe hope this helps.

Berny has it right, I would guess that it is a drain hose and terminates near the engine oil cooler

You have it Nick the rubber hose conects to a small metal pipe that changes to a aprox 15mm pipe about 70mm long that hangs down at the back of the tinware.
