Hi Tim. Thanks for the help with the relays. I don't really understand it, but I'm sure I will with a bit of research.

Thanks for the offer on the crank loan. I'll hold out and see how soon I need one. Part of me thinks it'd be sweet to replace the whole thing with a morse cable - from pedal to throttle body.

Bitz kit arrived today! Post Office had been holding it without letting me know. Thanks guys.

Got a question for those in the know - what's the strange bell-shaped valve thing on the back? It appears to bypass the butterfly. I notice on the CIS system Alan is selling, it has been blanked-off.

Also, what is the switch that the butterfly crank hits when the throttle is closed?

Good ol' post office eh :)
At least you have the bits now.
The Bell shaped bit is probably some kind of slow running device, probably blank the holes off (for now, you may want to re-introduce it in cooler weather)
The switch on the closed throttle ?? Don't know !! leave it there, disconnected ??
Good luck :)

I've just checked on the mittel motor site, they call the bell shaped thing a "Negative pressure clipper" if that helps ??

Good luck with getting this all running James, even by my own tight deadline standards I wouldn't be trying to put a mapped injection system on my car from scratch one week before the ferry leaves!

Don't chuck out the Zeniths just yet 8)

I have three days off, and AA Option 400...

The worst that could happen is that I have to bolt the Zeniths back on on Friday!

Think safety first. Have a fire extinguisher to hand. Remember you'll be playing with higher pressure fuel lines. Fitting Zenith's is NOT the worst thing that can happen.
Take care, be methodical and you'll be fine :)

OK, so the worst thing that could happen is that I burn the car to the ground... The upside would be no more Zeniths to tune.

This evening I collected my Innovate WBO2 sensor from Bill Shurvinton (EFI guy who lives a few miles away). I'm officially ready to go... except that I still can't decide whether to notch my intake ports to accommodate the injector spray, or get spacers made and notch those instead.

I reckon that it'll work OK without notching the heads out, but work better with the notch. As time is tight, how about doing that part later, after CLM.
I think you have enough to do as it is :)
Cheers

You saw this coming...

I -had- planned the whole thing to allow three days to fit and prepare. Today got a call about a load of work I had forgotten to put in the diary. So tomorrow (supposed Day 1 of the installation), I have to go to Liverpool, then I have Saturday off (new tyres, get some Euros and stuff), then a job on Sunday that requires me to be up at 3.30am, then off to Seville that evening for a job on Monday, over to Milan on Tuesday afternoon, back into Heathrow on Wednesday afternoon and off to catch the ferry in Portsmouth that evening, assuming no flights are delayed. If there are delays, I am screwed.

There is no way going to get this done before CLM! Carbs it is...

Blame it on youthful optimism. I will aim to have it ready for that Castle Combe track day in September, though!

Got back from CLM yesterday morning and had to go straight from the ferry to a job close to where I live.

Then I had today off, so I called on a friend to help make up my intake runner spacers:

Here goes...

Loom installed last night. Drilled into my shell. I hate myself, kind of. OK, I don't care as much as I should...

Fed it up inside the engine bay and left it coiled at the back. Next stage is to fit the new fuel pump to the front torsion bar with a massive jubilee clip.

For some reason my tank has a feed and a return. I thought carb'd cars had only a feed. This is great news as the high pressure fuel supply to the EFI needs a return and I thought I was going to have to mess about with T-pieces and clamps :)
