sound deadening - whats best?

Well I'm planning to take the engine and gearbox out tonight, so as to carry out a small amount of welding on the rear bulkhead, and for some general tinkering. Whilst I'm at it I want to apply some decent sound deadening material around the rear seat and bulkhead area.

I already have the new Porsche firewall padding to fit, but want some proper sound deadening for the interior. Anyone have recommendations for particularly good stuff to use?

Gav,

Fitting dampers pads will mainly reduce noise caused by panel vibration (structure born), you will need to fit both damper pads to the rear bulk head and an open cell foam or fine nylon flet (like thinsulate), to the inside this will give you incresed attenuation and absorption to knock out the air born noise.

So with that in mind the noise killer stuff looks the best bet and you will get a discount. I will asked about at work for suppliers who would supply small scale, as this maybe much cheaper. Sorry if thats a bit dull, but I work in vehicle refinment so I talk this kind of stuff all day.

personally i think they had it right when they used horse hair

Dynamat is where its at. (according to most of the guys here in the us)

they say Dynamat Extreme is easy to install and very effective.

Cheers guys, it looks to me like the NoiseKiller foil backed stuff is similar to the Dynamat for the engine bay, and then some of the adhesive foam sandwich for the inside.

Will try and get some prices for this stuff, with the discount...

The engine and 'box are on the floor now.. lots of little jobs to do, the fun starts here! :D :D
