I think the Leaf looks best on its own: looks a bit washed out when it's up against other cars.

Off to the paint factors in the morning, so I'll ask the question about availability (and 2K, although I think that's less of a problem going into '08 than first feared).

Yes those are the two green cars I drove with down to Ventura GAF '06. The metallic green belongs to my friend John and the leaf green belongs to my friend Alex. Both cars are stunning in person. The Metallic green has since received freshly recovered tan sports seats with houndstooth centers.

I've checked with my paint factor. Leaf Green itself is no longer listed.

There are changes coming up in the paint industry that come into effect next year (Jan '08 I think). This means that 'traditional' 2K paints will be banned. Manufacturers are changing to either water-based or high solid systems.

As a consequence, many of the old colours will not have their formulas moved over to the new systems. There is an upside (with my supplier at least): the German mixing system that they've gone for is much, much more geared up to matching and tinting paints without the need for codes. This means that if you can provide an accurate colour sample, they can reproduce it.

Best of all, is that the 2K primer that I've always used is already VOC 07 compliant as it's a 'high solids' (low solvent level) paint. The only diifference is that the topcoat will be a high solids also, which means that it is applied in one mist 'grip' coat, followed by one heavy full coat, and that's it. Any more paint applied in an effort to level the finish, will lead to problems in terms of texture, drying and durability.

The cost of the high solids systems are higher, but you use less, and it sounds as though it would be well-suited to painting the Wurth / 3M sprayable sealers as well

According to 'Carrera RS' there were only 2 Leaf Green '73 Carreras delivered. A friend of mine in a town about 30 miles away owns one of them and the other unfortunately burned up. My friend's RS was repainted in '80s in the all to common Grand Prix White w/ Blue.

Several times I have asked with him when is he going to come to senses and repaint his car in Leaf Green. Says he won't do it because the paint on the car now is too nice. I say 'Who cares, you would have the only LG RS in the world!" He won't sell either, I tried that angle also. Oh well some day I hope to break him down.

Sorry Bob, I've guessed at Medium for Barry (he's a slight lad you know) and it's not for sale. We want to see that car in Leaf Green and that shirt is a little bit more peer pressure.

Hi Mike,

My friend has the second series car, #787. It is #'s matching also.

Wouldn't that be great to see an RS (real or replica) in LF?:)
