well that's the plan, its gonna be touch and go! MOT'd last week so should hear from the DVLA in the next couple of days about the reg, in the meantime its just the gearbox rebuild, fixing a few bits, dyno and geometry set up

Booked for the Monday track day, as for the saturday and sunday was hoping for some daytime infield parking somewhere as there's no locks or security on it to leave it in a car park, but thats not looking likely, so will miss this years falling off chair act in the campsite bar! Hopefully see you Monday though.
cheers, Mike.

Sorry Derek, should have explained, was going to swop the box for the spare but can't do it in time, so staying with 'your' box for Silverstone.
Will be gentle I promise!

Its the rock solid tyres I'm worried about
cheers, Mike.

Mike not said before.. But great buy well done gald the whole buying from the US worked out so well.. See it's not so bad.. so how many sleepless nights did you have

Anyway US tyres.. All I can say is ALL the cars and Vans I have brought in the tyres have been terrible.. ( hard ) and one set on the 912E was a Quote " like new " sure they where very good lots of tread but when we took the tyre off one of the wheels the side wall FELL OFF!!!

So might be an idea to try and look out some or have them looked at before hand.. If it rains you don't want to be doing a david coulthard F1 and slipping off on the first corner only to get back to the tea and buns before every one else.

Also I read the small print with AON ( yes small print boring ) but they do not like US tyres so be careful.

Well all the hard work and the long hours, the driving between home and Neil Bainbridge at www.bsmotorsport.co.uk in Buckinghamshire everyday, and working with Kevin O'Rourke at www.mototechnique.com painting the bonnet at midnight on the Friday, was all worth it as the car made it to the Silverstone Classic weekend and PCGB track-day yesterday.

Thanks to all involved, Rob and Rick with Neil and James and Richard with Kevin. Also a big thank you to Kevin Morfett at Historika, www.eurocars-uk.co.uk who stepped in at the last moment to loan me the pair of 11"s when we found the crack in mine.

The car ran faultlessly and received high praise from the likes of Josh Sadler on the Sunday and ex formula 1 driver Mike Wilds, yesterday.
Any pictures of it running on track at Silverstone would be greatly appreciated so as to send to Gib in the States.

Here's Rob at BS Motorsport dong the geometry set up on the thurs:

Then Friday 11.30pm at Moto-Technique as Kevin does the final sanding:

Midnight as the laquer goes on:

finally a couple from the pit lane:

now to take it apart again for the twin plugging and underside protection, got a bit of time this time, before Classic Le Mans and the Targa Florio re-run next year......... 8)
cheers, Mike.

Well, time to update the thread, engine and box out and sold awaiting collection, and front and rear suspension off and stripped ready for coilovers and 930 brakes.

While Neil Bainbridge http://www.bsmotorsport.co.uk/ and I carry on sourcing parts, I've started preparing the bodywork for paint, taken off the underseal in the engine bay (can't see what the fuss is about, only took 3 days!) Will do the underside prep between Xmas and New Year, then the body goes of to Kevin O'Rourke http://www.mototechnique.com/ in January.

Here's a few pics to date:

Old engine now sold, somebody's got a great bargain here!

Thanks Barry, didn't want to bore everybody to death in the General section, thought I'd bore them here!

Stripping the underseal by hand continues, done the engine bay and under hood fuel tank support area, and tonight finished the rear seat wells. Gone past the 'why did I ever start this' stage to, 'well that must be the difficult bits done, only the whole floor pan left now'
