Front dual mounts on gearbox

I forgot to take a pic of these in situ and being removed can anyone show me how these go back on please as Ive sort of forgottoen. Stupid I know but hey.

and also do i put them on gearbox first and then front mounts or the other way round, I remember they were a chore to get off as very tight fit.

Hi Nic.

The metal can goes to the car body mount and the rubber mount goes gearbox side.
You should also have at least two spacers. These are used in case you can't get enough toe in on the rear track. By spacing the gearbox away from the body, this toes the rear wheels in.
If you don't need the spacers because your rear toe is ok and you can get enough adjustment in the slots of the spring plates. Then they are mounted the other side of the body mount braket and used as washers.
As a rule of thumb, there is normally one spacer between body mount bracket and metal can.

The easiest way to mount the whole lot is to fit everything to the gearbox first, firm but loose.
When you slide the gearbox in, then you can just slip the mounts over the bracket holes (which are sloted) and the whole thing is then held in place.
Put the rear hoop bolts in and then make sure the front mounts are down in the correct position.
Now do everything up.

Cheers Paul if you hadnt of replied I was going to call you and discuss like before. You have described it how I thought it was and indeed it was one in and one out so everything seems to be fine

Just got to find a couple of bolts for the spring plates now as a couple had to be cut off.

Hopefully everything will be in today and I can free some more space up in the workshop and then sort getting the engine all in at weekend when i have some help.

I was having enough of a job getting the bugger out just didnt want to move.

Just about finished welding up a 67 bug on a pretty full resto so will move onto the 356 as soon as thats done ready for the next bug to come in some time this week!!!
