65-68 Steering rack questions any owners willing to take ...

Post by 912uk »

Has any one got a picture or could they take one of their steering rack..

what I am looking for is the angle of the tie rod bush on the end of the steering rack ( NOT THE OTHER END WHERE THE WHEEL IS ) it is different to 69- cars. I have put the car back togeather after rebuilding the rack and it just don't seam right to me. it looks like it will put too much pressure on the joint..

So what i am looking for is the end of the rack that you can see if you put the car on a full lock and then look from the side of the car in the inner wing there ( not under neath) in to where the steering rack is..

These tie rod bushes seam to have a slight angle and it's this angle I find is not right with the pciture I have in the book.

any one help?

I hope to get the 65 back on it's wheels this aftenoon...

Hi,

Hope these images can help, they are from my '68 project. The car is off its wheels and the last picture has full lock on.

The hacksaw was the final option after many a skinned knuckle! the arms need replacing anyway!

If you need I can take a picture of my '67, but I am recovering from knee surgery and not that mobile at the moment...
