New door strap cross post

Post by fourteener »

posted this on 914club.com but I thought I'd share it here too,

Thanks to Dave Sprinkle in the US for making these jewels....springs are a bit fiddly and I put the strap piece on upside down to start with so I had to take them all apart again. But my newly painted doors wont fly open now.
Kit contains a machined brass roller prevents the galling against the laser-cut alu strap, the plastic roller is retained to prevent noise.

Now they're fitted my doors stay perfectly poised in the two positions they were designed to....only fly in the ointment (very small fly) is that on occasion if the door is opened quickly then there is a slight 'click' from the worn pin and the body retainer that goes oval over time

When I removed doorcards the springs were in peices rattling about in the bottom of the door cavity. All 4 of them. :(
